Blends vs. Synergies - Leaving the kitchen sink behind!
A blend of essential oils is not always a synergy. To blend is defined as mixing two or more substances.
A synergy is defined as the commingling of tow or more substances to achieve an effect of which the individual parts
are incapable - its the 'whole is greater than the sum of the parts' concept.
When I first began working
with essential oils, I felt pretty much on my own when it came to blending. Of the many books on aromatherapy I have
sitting on my shelves, very few attempt to cover blending. Of those that do, I find their attempts admirable, but my
best teacher was experience, trial and error and a strong dose of courage. In an effort to have you avoid what
I called 'my kitchen sink blending experience' (I blended every oil I had), I've developed these Blending
Intensives.
Blending Intensives are designed to begin where we left off in our Level II workshop. The
day is designed around you making as many successful synergistic blends as you choose.
We'll start the
day with a brief review of blending approaches and techniques. I'll have scent strips, blending bowls, and all my
essential oils and carrier oils for you to use. I'll be there to help, guide and make recommendations when/if necessary.
We'll share amoung ourselves what is working and what isn't so that we can learn from each other.
All you
need to bring is your curiosity and your commitment to honing your blending skills.
