Workshops
We offer two levels of training in Aromatic Healing. Workshops have been designed
to include a combination of lecture, hands-on practice as well as first-hand experience with essential oils
All our classes are taught without regard to any specific brand or line of essential oils.
No proprietary blends are discussed or used in our hands-on sessions.
All
classes are taught by Karen Louise Reilly, RA, NCMT. To learn more about Karen, click here.
Aromatic Healing Level I Training
In
this valuable and practical course, we cover:
- Why essential
oils have been used throughout time for healing purposes,
- How essential
oils interact with us physically, emotionally and energetically,
- Hands-on
practice with essential oils,
- Common essential oils and their traditional
uses,
- Different methods of application and when to use each, and
- Cautions and when not to use essential oils.
Our workshop
is divided into three parts:
Part I - Practical Aromatherapy - We cover the
following topics:
- the physiology of scent,
- Introduction
to the chemistry of essential oils,
- How essential oils interact with us physically,
- Twelve basic essential oils and their uses,
- Overview of the different methods
of application: topical, inhalation and internal,
- Appropriate modes of preparing essential
oil dilutions, and
- Cautions and contraindications of essential oil use.
The afternoon sessions are devoted to hands-on work. A protocol is demonstrated
and participants are invited to practice the protocol on each other.
Part II - Essential Oils for Our Energetic and Emotional Health — Essential oils have
energetic qualities that can affect our own energy anatomy. We cover basic energy anatomy (our chakras) and discuss the related
essential oils.
We explore how essential oils interact with our emotional systems and discuss how and
why essential oils effect our emotions. We identify which oils can be used to balance and harmonize our feelings and how to
use them. We experience selected oils.
Karen demonstrates an energy clearing protocol using essential oils and then
work with students while they practice the protocol on each other.
Part III - Carrier Oil Basics — Carrier
oils are a basic tool of massage therapists and bodyworkers, but we often are unaware of their therapeutic properties. We
will explore:
- common and not-so-common carrier oils.
- infusions and macerations,
- their
properties and
- how to select, purchase and blend carrier oils to produce
a therapeutic experience for both the client and practitioner.
The morning is lecture
with the afternoon devoted to hands-on work.
